Version 1.0
First release
Capture
- Press ⌃⇧T, drag a box over any text on screen, and the text is copied. You can change the shortcut in Settings.
- Works on videos, scanned PDFs, images, slides, screen shares and apps that don’t let you select text.
- Works on every connected display. Press Esc to cancel.
Text recognition
- Reads 28 languages with Apple Vision, on your Mac. Some languages need a newer version of macOS.
- Finds the language by itself, or uses the languages you choose.
- Keeps line breaks, quotes, dashes and accents as they are on screen.
- Optional: join words split across two lines, and keep indentation for code.
- Add your own words (names, product terms) to help recognition.
After a capture
- A short message shows how many words were copied, with Edit and Undo.
- Edit the text in a small window, copy it again, or have it read aloud.
- Translate the text with Apple Translation, on your Mac (macOS 15 or later). Each language downloads once, then works offline.
- Look Up a word in the dictionary built into macOS.
- Search the web opens a search in your browser with Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing or Ecosia (choose in Settings).
- Optional: always show the text before it is copied.
QR codes and barcodes
- Choose Read QR / Barcode from the menu bar, or set its own shortcut. Links can be opened from the message.
History
- Keeps your last 50 captures as text on your Mac, never as images. Search, copy again, look up, search the web, delete, or turn history off.
Setup and privacy
- A first-launch guide walks you through the Screen Recording permission.
- Open at login, sound on or off, and an app translated into the same 28 languages it reads.
- No internet access, no account, no tracking. Pictures of your selection are never saved. Your text leaves your Mac only when you click Search the web.
